Helena, Montana

Nav is currently driving on the I-90 towards Bozeman, Montana. We just left Helena, Montana, the state capital. We drove in yesterday, quite tired from sitting in a car for 15 or so hours. Although the day did begin beautifully driving throughout Banff, Alberta, and ending up in Radium, B.C. It was absolutely stunning. I am not sure a camera, or even recollection of memory can really give the right kind of justice to such a place. I am sure we will be surprised in such a fashion, a million times, but wow wow wow. Lake Louise, what we thought would be a tourist trap or something, was so gorgeous. The drive, the wildlife, the other hikers and visitors…it was an amazing experience. We got to the Rooseville border to get into Montana at around 3pm. It was a very nice and simple crossing, there were five cars. They did ask a few more questions about Nav, and India and Pakistan, but they were asking in such a way that it was more following protocol than it was harrassing us. We got into Montana, and wow, the mountains are and hills are fantastic. Although they don’t compare to Banff, they are still wonderful. In comparison to Saskatchewan and Alberta, the ups and downs of the hills, were a welcomed change in scenery. The speed limit is quite high, about 110-120 km/hr on most roads. We noticed that when driving towards Whitefish, we wanted to stop and throw the car down a cliff. It was dirty, the bugs and insects ruined the windows, and it was just uncomfortable to sit.

OH YEAH. Here is a story of its own, very brief: Sunnyside Avenue. Let’s just say, that our GPS does not do U-Turns, so she takes us on a nice journey back to the palce we need to be. We like to take it because we often see new things. This time she took us to a road that seemed like a hiking walking path. The huge boulders and rocks hit the tires and underside of the car in such a wonderful and terrifying arrangement. We were like were laughing nervously throughout the approximately 1-2 kms of dirt road. We went down a steep turn and we saw some houses, that looked like they were built for the environment. They all had huge massive pick up trucks that would easily sail over them boulders. It was a hilarious experience…well it was after we got back onto the main road. It is a registered road, and it looks like someone made it yesterday… *sigh

Anyway that passed when we reached Helena. We got into the city around 7:30 or 8:00pm. We texted the mr. tyler knott and sarah joelle and were excited to be able to stand outside. We got to their road, and after Tyler txted and told me that GPS’ aren’t that great so I shouldn’t actually trust them to direct us to the right house, we got lost. I think he jinxed us, or he knew that the GPS would take us to another road, with the same name. Grr. Anyway we got there, and as soon as I got out I got to see the beautiful miss Sarah. Her huge smile greeted me first, and I instantly knew that I’d be super duper content with this “meet and greet.” Hehe. Sarah and I are meant to be twins of some sort. Tytler (as Nav has been calling him …not sure if Tyler heard that haha), him and I are meant to be friends forever and yesterday. It was great that all five of us got along so well. We exchanged stories of travels, and random jokes (that mainly came from Nav and Tyler, because they are both nerds), and Sarah and I shared all the times Tyler and Nav have picked up on our awesomeness :P

This needs a whole new paragraph. Tyler and Sarah, are not only wicked people, they are crazy hosts. Sarah prepared all this awesome food and baked goods, NOT just for our visit but for our ride out of Helena (uhhhh, instant love much?). SHE ALSO BROUGH EARL GREY CAKE FROM THE HEAVENS. It was so good, we have some in the car, and put it in our cooler and I am thinking about it right now, and I’m salivating. *Ahem. Tyler is a mom, he took care of us (although Sarah also did, two moms for the price of one!), giving us pillows, preparing fans. In the morning there was awesome cranberry bread, that I can’t quite remember because the taste of it is overpowering the other part of my memory. I also got a pear. You give me a cake, then you give me a pear? Sarah, you know the way to my heart.

Nav and I woke up at 5, and Nav left around 5:45am to see McDonald’s Pass to take some photos. I walked around the neighbourhood. Such a quaint little town, with great people, who aren’t afraid to talk to the girl who is prancing on the grass in front of the capital hill building with no shoes on. Finally when they woke up they thought it would be appropriate to make our lives more amazing and give us an awesome breakfast. Stop it you guys? We’ll have to top you when you come to Toronto.

Before we left they took a photo, so y’all know it’s real :P And we said Hi to Hobbes and Calvin. Just as beautiful as they appear in photos, but y’all probably can’t tell how darn friendly they are. Amazing awesomeness.

We left around or before noon. We decided to get our car serviced, because lack of oil = bad. So we left the car and met some locksmiths who took us to their shop (random I know), and they gave us some old keys and taught us about locks.

:) We had some awesome coffee, and then left…
but it was an all together amazing experience. We met great people who will be our friends for life, and saw a beautiful place.

NOW OFF TO Yellow Stone National Park, Wyoming? :D

p.s. by the time i upload this we will probably be in YS park. ^.^ Internets are like that.
