Sunday August 16th - 1:00pm
Hi guys.
We’ve been driving since around 12 am, heading toward Thunder Bay. The original plan was to do driving shifts of a few hours each but since Nav is sensitive to caffeine and downed almost two full extra-large black coffees, he ended up driving most of the night (i.e 6 hours) while Accah (Aarthy) and I woke up every hour to make sure he was still ok. Accah took the next shift at around 6 amĀ and drove for about three hours in some thick fog before she pulled over from being too sleepy. I ended up taking the next shift at around 9 am and drove for about an hour and a half, finally reaching some town called Wawa before I obtained my very first driving ticket!
be proud.
I apparently was speeding, I of course don’t think it was as horrible as the police lady thought but what’s done is done and I got a ticket. I’m thinking one ticket in 5 years isn’t so bad, it also wasn’t as scary as i thought it would be.
We were also given an extra ticket on top of the speeding one because although the car we are driving is fully insured, Accah doesn’t have the most currently insurance in the car and forgot to check before she left. (Attn Ammah: We plan on getting a faxed copy once we reach Thunder Bay, as per the officer’s instructions)
The police officer also had a problem with Nav
the conversation went something like this:
Police Lady: Sir are you wearing your seatbelt?
Nav: I was.
Police Lady: so you weren’t?
Nav: No I was, I was lying down, my seatbelt was on.
Police Lady: So you were lying down so it wasn’ t on?
Nav: No, it was on..I had this one on *lifts middle seat belt*, I was sleeping and the car stopped so I got up to see what was going on.
Police Lady: You were sleeping so your seat belt wasn’t on?
Nav: I was wearing it. I took it off when the car stopped.
Police Lady: There is no reason for you to take your belt off.
I ended up driving for only half an hour more before I got bored and then got tired. Accah took over and we are currently at an A&W in a little town called White River where the chicken tastes like rubber and the root beer tastes like water but the people were nice so its all good.
While driving I also found out that Accah and Nav forgot to pack the water, other drinks, a pillow and the third sleeping bag before they left to get me. But its ok, these are all things that can be fixed, I ended up packing a blanket before i left, we’ve made make-shift pillows out of clothing and drinks can be bought.
Throughout the trip and for a few weeks prior, Nav has been listen to the Harry Potter audio books. Because of this, he tends to relate everything to Harry Potter now. Asking random questions, singing about harry potter, letting the car drift and blaming it on being enchanted, trying to do voices, coming up with excuses for things by saying he doesn’t have his wand and pretending the end of the road is a port key that he must reach. Mind you he is the eldest in the car at 27 years old.
Anyways. So far it seems kind of slow, only because we are still in Ontario. Its a much bigger province then I thought but we’re having fun nonetheless!
